10 Facts You Didn’t Know About The Universe

10 Facts You Didn’t Know About The Universe

The universe is massive and appears to contain infinite wonders. As our technologies become more advanced, we are poised to discover even more and perhaps prove our current theories wrong.

Still, our observations and studies so far have revealed many strange phenomena in space. Surprisingly, one of the most complex objects in the universe is right here on Earth—and even closer than you probably imagined.

    10 Galactic Years

We all know that a year on Earth is 365 days, but there are also galactic years. For our entire solar system to make one orbit around the Milky Way, it would take 230 million years. This means that we will not make an entire orbit of the Milky Way in our lifetimes.

The last time that our solar system completed its rotation, the human race was not even near existence yet. In fact, dinosaurs were still alive during that time. The next time that our solar system is in the same position in its orbit as today, human beings will probably not exist anymore.

It is incredible to think about just how big our galaxy is. It is so small compared to the entire universe. Just think if the universe is infinite and our galaxy is also in a rotation around it, how long would the galaxy take to complete its orbit?

    9 Earth’s Rotation

In kindergarten, you learned that there are 24 hours in every day. If you really think about it, though, it is kind of unbelievable that every single day is exactly 24 hours, not one second more or one second less. However, Earth’s rotation slows down every century, which means that our days are not precisely 24 hours each. NASA has reported that the Earth’s rotation actually takes 24 hours and 2.5 milliseconds.

Although 2.5 milliseconds may not seem like a big deal, Earth has been around for billions of years. If Earth’s rotation slows down every century, that time can really add up. For example, when the dinosaurs were around, days were only 23 hours long. If you thought each day goes by too fast now, just imagine what it would have been like a billion years ago.

    8 A Cloud Of Alcohol

For those of us who love to have a drink of alcohol, we can only imagine how great the world would be with clouds of alcohol floating around. In fact, this could be some people’s greatest fantasy.

In the constellation Aquila, an actual cloud of ethyl alcohol exists. This is no ordinary cloud, though. Not only would this cloud be too big to fit on Earth, it would be too large to fit in our solar system.

In diameter, this cloud is 1,000 times larger than our entire solar system. Unfortunately for those of us who would love to see and drink from this incredible phenomenon, this cloud is 10,000 light-years away. So unless space travel advances by an extreme degree, there is no getting to it in our lifetimes.

    7 Burning Ice

Although fire and ice are complete opposites, a huge exoplanet named Gliese 436b is covered in burning ice. This exoplanet is about 33 light-years away, yet it creates an unbelievable spectacle.

Astronomers have theorized that the strange phenomenon of burning ice surrounding the exoplanet occurs due to an unknown state of water. This causes the surface of Gliese 436b to stay in a solid state of ice, even though the surface temperature of the exoplanet is about 439 degrees Celsius (822 °F). These factors interact to cause burning ice.

6 The Smells Of The Universe

When we think about space, we imagine what we may see, feel, and even hear. But most of us have probably never thought about what we would smell in space. As no astronaut would be able to take off his spacesuit out there and live to talk about it, we can never know exactly what space smells like. But the odor from an astronaut’s gear after a space walk can give us some insight.

Astronauts have said that their space suits smelled of hot metal and seared steak after a space walk. No one knows the true reason why that is so, but scientists believe that it may be traces of dying star odor.

As if this was not strange enough, research by the Max Planck Institute found that the center of the Milky Way smells like raspberries. The cause is believed to be ethyl formate in the area, which is a chemical component of raspberries.

5 Earth As A Black Hole

Whenever we think of black holes, we think of collapsed stars whose lives ended in supernovas so great that they created some of the most mysterious things in our universe. The creation of a black hole is a relatively rare phenomenon. Even our Sun could not create a black hole if it were to die right now.

As we discuss Earth then, it is not logical that it could create a black hole, either. However, it is always fun to theorize about crazy phenomena that could occur in our universe.

It has been hypothesized that if Earth were compressed to the size of a marble, it would collapse in on itself and create a black hole. This would occur because Earth would be so dense that it could create a black hole.

    4 The Human Brain

Even though we have been studying the universe for a long time, most of it is still a mystery to us. We have discovered many puzzling objects in our universe, but the most complex is still the human brain.

The human brain has a billion neurons with a total of about 100 trillion nerve connections. It is so unbelievable to think about how small and complex a human brain is compared to what else we have discovered in our universe. Eventually, we may find more complex objects than our brains, but for now, we hold the title.

    3 The Size Of Stars

We all know that the Sun is huge and that it is so important to our world. Without the Sun, we would not be able to survive for long. Nevertheless, when most of us think of our solar system, we think of a much bigger area than the size of our Sun.

This is a misconception, though. In fact, the Sun contains more than 99 percent of the mass of our solar system. Just think about how big the gas giants are, and the Sun still takes up the vast majority of our solar system. Approximately, one million Earths could fit inside our Sun.[8]

As if this was not incredible enough, just imagine the size of other stars. Compared to them, our Sun is fairly small. It just makes you think how unbelievably big stars can be and how much of our universe is taken up by them.

2 The Age Of The Universe

Although it’s up for debate, the first human ancestor was thought to be alive around six million years ago. That seems like a very long time until we look at the age of the Earth and the universe. Then it seems like no time at all.

Scientists have calculated that the Earth is about 4.5 billion years old. The first galaxies are believed to have begun to form about 13 billion years ago. Almost 14 billion years ago, scientists believe, the universe began to form.

This is so incredible to think about. If a human lived to the old age of 100 years, that would be still be nothing compared to the age of the Earth, the solar systems, and the whole universe.

    1 Unseen Objects

We know that most of our universe has been unseen by the human eye or human-made devices. Scientists have used many electromagneticwavelengths to try to see around our universe to places we could never get to in our lifetimes. They have used radio waves, infrared, and X-rays to make many discoveries. These wavelengths have also revealed great mysteries within our universe.

Scientists have found that huge portions of our universe cannot be detected by any of these wavelengths. This could mean a lot of different phenomena are happening, but one theory is that dark matter actually exists.

Dark matter does not absorb or emit light. However, even though we can’t directly observe dark matter, many scientists believe that we have strong evidence of its existence.

10 Signs someone is not trustworthy

10 Signs someone is not trustworthy The problem with trust issues

One complain i always get from the people i coach is that they opened up to someone too much then ended up being hurt. After people get hurt many of them start to develop irrational fears to the extent they stop trusting people altogether.

Their logic in such a case is simple; If i was hurt so much in the past then i can prevent further hurt by trusting no one. The problem with that approach is that it turns the person into a scared lonely being who ends up socially isolated and depressed.

So what’s the right soloution to this problem? You should learn how to spot untrustworthy people from the beginning and then only allow trustworthy ones in your circle. By doing so you will still have a good social life and the chance of being hurt again will become very low.

This is exactly why i decided to write this article; to tell you how to spot untrustworthy people.

10 Signs someone is not trustworthy

    1) They don’t get disgusted easily: This might sound strange but it’s an extremely accurate way to tell whether someone is honest or not. Studies have shown that people who get disgusted easily usually have very high moral standards such as honesty and integrity. In short beware of those who don’t get disgusted easily for their values might be totally messed up.

    2) They put you down indirectly: I am pretty sure you met one of those people who try to put down while acting like they are giving you advice. Those people put you down because they don’t want to see you happy. They may act like they love you but the truth is that they hate to see you happy. Those are certainly not trustworthy people.

    3) They are full of jealousy: Beware of the person who never claps when you succeed. If a person became jealous of you then they might turn into an enemy very easily. Jealous people can easily be spotted as they always seem resentful towards those who have more things than them.

    4) They never open up: After few meetings a typical person usually opens up and starts talking about their problems. People who open up are usually trustworthy people since no one exposes themselves easily to their enemies. Beware of those who never open up to you.

    5) They are very resentful: I am pretty sure you met one of those people who are resentful towards others, large groups of people or even whole races. This person is usually a mentally unstable person who carries lots of grudges towards others. If those people failed to release their grudges properly then they might release them on you.

    6) They feel good when you fail: In the body language section i made it very clear how to spot people’s emotional changes. If a person always feels good when you fail then this is probably an enemy in disguise

    7) They lie to others: Don’t ever trust the person who lies to someone else in your presence simply because you will be next.

    8) They gossip a lot: Most people gossip to a certain extent. But if someone gossips about people all the time then probably that person will also gossip about you when they have the chance. In my article Why do people gossip i said that in many cases a person gossips to raise their self esteem and in such a case you shouldn’t trust that person

    9) They cheat on others: If someone is trying to date you while they are already married then know that there is a great possibility that they are not honest and that they might actually cheat on you in the future

    10) They laugh when someone makes fun of you: In previous articles i said that haters become too frustrated when they see the ones they hate. One of the things that makes haters feel great is seeing someone else making fun of you.

Can We Soon Be Teleported? Check Out What Science Says

The Star Trek films taught us that within that very specific sci-fi universe, transporters could teleport humans from one place to another. But what if we actually looked at the physics involved in transporting life from here to there, and realized that those fancy transporters are actually full-blown suicide boxes?

So what comment does science make on it?

Basically, the transporter scans you down to your very last quark, takes apart your atoms, and sends the pieces of you to your chosen destination for reassembly.

But then that begs the question…

Is it actually you on the other side or a copy that thinks it’s you, while the ‘real’ you ceased to exist on the transporter pad? What does it take to confirm that you really are you?

It’s a question that’s been asked by a number of people and as the times goes by, we just wish harder that teleportation was possible.

As the writer Jennifer Ouellette explains, replicating yourself isn’t exactly ‘allowed’ in quantum physics:

“Think about it. All your atoms are scanned and destroyed in the process, because there’s no cloning allowed in quantum mechanics. Then all that information about you is teleported to the new location, where a bunch of new atoms are used to build a whole new you, complete with memories, personality quirks, and that oddly shaped birthmark on your left butt cheek.”

We have a bunch of atoms that are arranged in such a way that they become living, breathing, conscious you, and they get pulled apart and rearranged somewhere else…

But just think about the actual experience of being teleported. You’re being broken down to the very last atom, so you’re not exactly going to be conscious the whole time. In fact, you’ll likely feel nothingness forever while a brand new life made up of your atom arrangements is now living happily in your chosen destination.

So what we’re dealing with here could be an entirely new and different consciousness, but with the same atom arrangement and memories of you. But is that really a problem?

If you thought all that was complicated and eerie enough to swear off teleportation forever, prepare yourselves, because there are even more questions.

For example, what if the transporter malfunctioned and you end up with two versions of ‘you’ who have to fight it out for legitimacy?

It might sound like a philosophical waste of time, but with researchers making progress on teleportation technology all the time, we might one day have to grapple with these questions for real.

  • How to Exit the Matrix in 6 Simple Steps?

How to Exit the Matrix in 6 Simple Steps?

How to Exit the Matrix in 6 Simple Steps?

The virtual reality introduced in the Matrix films is generated by a computer, and the people live in this artificially created reality.

If you spend some time and pay attention to the reality of your everyday life, you will find a stunning discovery. Because our everyday reality shows a great deal of resemblance to movie’s virtual reality.

Our virtual reality may not be generated by a computer, but by our mind, our constantly flowing thoughts and emotions. And so we are living in the imprisonment of our thoughts and feelings’ matrix. Let’s see what features this matrix has and how to get rid of them.

    1. Step. The World of Permanent Change

We chase our desires and unfulfilled dreams. We are attracted by money, power, prestige, a wholesome, happy life. All this lies there hidden behind the powerful iron gate that is towering in front of us. Spurred by our ambitions, we pursue various goals all through our lives. We aspire for something all the time, we always want to achieve something. This restless rush is instigated by our fear that we are still not what we want to be. We are never satisfied, we always want something else, we would like to be better, more beautiful, richer than we are at present.

That is how we pursue our goals until death, when we realize how meaningless the whole thing has been. But why are these goals meaningless, we begin to protest immediately. The protest is caused by the vary nature of the forms and shapes, as in their world every form and shape is subject to permanent change, birth and death. Whatever we attract to us, we are going to lose it, as everybody departs from this world empty-handed, all those who pursue their goals, live in the spell of past and future.

    2. Step. The Spiritual Seeking

We, however, wish to find the security of permanence in our life. We would like to find what is beyond the world of constant change. In order to do so, we become spiritual seekers.

As a first step of spiritual seeking we start to look for enlightenment, Self-recognition in the world of shapes and forms (that is, outside ourselves) in the hope of thus reaching the state of permanent happiness. We intend to find a dogma, a great Master, an elevating spiritual experience that expands our Consciousness. If it is not found here on Earth, we will be looking for it in the other world, in the heaven of a religion.

We use the mind as a mean of spiritual search. It is through the mind that the Ego intends to understand what is beyond mind and forms. The mind in this way prepares the mental image of enlightenment, seeking, happiness etc.

The mental images are born through the comprehensive process of the mind. For comprehension, we also require information, so we shall gather bits of information like a busy ant. From books on religion and spirituality, lectures heard and conversations attended, we are attempting to screen information, ideas, opinions and experience necessary for them. The same takes place with spiritual experience. We assume that if we gather a sufficient amount of experience, as a result we will reach a certain point, we will increase their spirituality.

These mental images motivate us to make efforts at implementing the mental images at the level of daily life, to make these images the cornerstones of our life. Achieving spiritual objectives, however, affords only momentary satisfaction for us, so after achieving one specific goal, relentlessness returns, urging us to start working for new objectives. The mind produces new mental images, and seeking starts all over again. 3. Step. The Stop

We then go on seeking, until we eventually become tired of the process, and finally recognize its true nature. We stop and abandon spiritual seeking. We recognize that all the objectives we have so far been looking for outside ourselves, are only found within ourselves.

We will stop when we recognize the activities of the mind and refuse to follow it any longer. We realize that with the help of the mind we will not be able to surpass the mind. We will experience that stopping is the inactive moment of the mind, the silence between thoughts. In that silence, we will experience the Consciousness without forms, and recognize that we are in fact the Presence without thoughts. We then leave behind the spiritual seeker, with all the accumulated knowledge and lofty spiritual experience.

    4. Step. The Inner Journey

This is the beginning of an inner journey which takes us out from the matrix, beyond the mind. Once we have started our journey, we leave the world behind and abandon everything that has hampered us in our progress. We give up unimportant things in order to be able to concentrate our attention exclusively on the important ones. That is possible by means of a major mental clean-up.

When  we begin doing that clean-up in earnest, we will soon face the vast multitude of our thoughts, opinions, ideas and the emotions attached to all these. After a period of time, we realize that we need to abandon all the unimportant things and trivialities, since these things will be found false in the light of our inner journey. Then we find ourselves all alone, and realize, that we still have not finished. We are still to shed the shadow that we believed to be our self.

    5. Step. The Awakening: Coming Home

The awaking is the awakening of the Consciousness to its own existence through the form and shape that we formerly identified with ourselves. After the great clean up nothing remains but the empty space.

But if we examine that space closer, we find that it is full of Consciousness, which is the inner peace, quiet and tranquility. We then realize that we are at home. Whatever now happens in that internal space, we must experience that. We must experience whatever life has to offer, there and then in that specific moment. The next moment does not need to bear the burden of the experience of the previous moment.

The question then arises: have we already got rid of the matrix? The emptiness is perfect, but we still must take the last step in order to be completely free.

    6. Step. Comeback

That step will take us to the point where our entire journey began. We return to the Matrix, to the world of daily life. We, however, return in a state different from the one in which we departed, since we have undergone considerable changes during our journey. The Mind, the Ego and, together with it, selfishness vanished from ourselves. The emptiness, pulsating with life, and the Consciousness, awakened to its own existence, continue to stay with us.

In this way the world will be entirely different for us. We no longer feel en urge to run away from it, and we do not submerge in the swamp of identifying with the world. We are now free from all that, and the world is now a new adventure for us. We abandon ourselves into the streams of Life, and we merge with the Universe. In the meanwhile, we help others in awakening and we share the joy of existence and sympathy with everyone we encounter during our spiritual journey.

  • 21 Things Your Dreams Reveal About You

21 Things Your Dreams Reveal About You

21 Things Your Dreams Reveal About You

Did you know, your dreams can actually explain a lot about what is going on with your subconscious self?

    Here’s 21 examples of such!

    1.Your political views

Self-described conservatives are more likely to have mundane, realistic dreams, while liberals have more bizarre dreams. Does that mean liberals are more open-minded? Or that they’re caught up in their own fantasies? Take your pick. Here’s what your house says about your political affiliation.

    2. That you’ve got a heart problem

People who have frequent nightmares may be significantly more likely to suffer from an irregular heartbeat or chest pain compared with those who don’t have them, found a study of older adults. That may be because heart problems can make it more difficult to breathe at night.

    3. If you’re avoiding something

Do you dream about being pursued by a stranger, a monster, or a giant tidal wave? This could indicate that you’re afraid to deal with something in your waking life. Ask yourself what issue, person, or emotion you’re not confronting.

    4. How fast you’ll bounce back from your divorce

Divorced people who have longer, more dramatic dreams about the old relationship are more likely to adjust better to being single. Dreams may help divorced folks (and the rest of us) work through trauma. Want to move things along? Here’s how to control what you dream about at night.

    5. How you pursue the big answers

Adults who attend church frequently may recall fewer dreams than those who don’t attend worship services regularly. If you’re not relying on religion to answer big life questions, then your dreams may become a resource for insight.

    6. That you may have sleep apnea

If you have terrible dreams about drowning, choking, or suffocation, you could have sleep apnea, a condition that causes you to stop breathing for seconds at a time while asleep. One study found that those kinds of nightmares disappeared in 91 percent of patients with sleep apnea after they were treated with continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy. Consider these home remedies for sleep apnea too.

    7. That you’re a workaholic

Type A personalities tend to report more disturbing dreams than laid-back folks. Hard-driving types put more pressure on themselves, and that stress can appear in dreams. This is what your sleep position says about your personality.

    8. If you’ll ace a test

College students spent an hour learning how to navigate a complex maze. When tested later, the only students whose performance improved were those who had dreamed about the maze during a nap. Dreaming may consolidate memories, which boosts learning and problem-solving skills.

    9. Whether you’ll give up smoking for good

One study found that the more you dream about smoking—and experience the guilt associated with falling off the wagon (even a phantom wagon)—the more likely you may be to quit. These are our 13 favorite sleep secrets from sleep doctors.

    10. Your risk of Parkinson’s

Up to 90 percent of people who act out violent dreams—by punching, kicking, or yelling while asleep—may eventually develop Parkinson’s disease. The behavior may indicate REM sleep behavior disorder, an early sign of the disease.

    11. How easy your labor and delivery will be

Pregnant women who dream about labor shorten their birth experiences by an hour, according to research. Experts believe dreaming about labor helps the women anticipate and emotionally prepare for it, so they are able to relax and have easier deliveries in real life.

    12. Whether you’re depressed…

Depressed people start dreaming much sooner than others, as early as 45 minutes after falling asleep, rather than the usual 90 minutes. These are other warning signs of depression.

    13. … And if you should see a therapist

Recurrent or repeated nightmares that keep you from sleeping are another hallmark sign of anxiety or depression. If your nightmares surge after a disturbing event, the trauma may be too big for your brain to psychologically digest. A sleep therapist or psychologist can help.

    14. What medications you’re taking

Many drugs are known to cause bad dreams, including antidepressants, antibiotics, statins, and some antihistamines. Don’t miss these other common causes of nightmares.

    15. Death may be near

The closer a person is to passing, the more likely he or she is to dream about loved ones who’ve passed on.

    16. How likely you are to fight with your spouse

Did you dream about your partner’s infidelity? You just increased the chances that you’re going to argue with him or her the next day, according to a University of Maryland study. Having a “sex” dream, on the other hand, boosts feelings of love and intimacy. Here’s what your couples’ sleep position says about your relationship.

    17. If you’re about to have a migraine

One study of 37 migraine sufferers found that patients often have bad dreams that involve themes of anger and aggression before a migraine comes on. One theory is if the headache develops at night, the pain may trigger the nightmare. Not having dreams? Here’s how that could be just as bad as sleep deprivation.

18.If you’re out of tune with your emotion

Many researchers believe dreams—especially nightmares—are your brain’s way of making sense of your experiences. If a dream reoccurs and does not change much over time, it could be a sign you’re having trouble dealing with something emotionally. To resolve those issues, consider how the dream made you feel and which real-life circumstances might be prompting those emotions in you.

    19. What kind of problem solver you are

Those who are recognize that they’re asleep while they’re dreaming (called lucid dreamers) are 25 percent better at solving problems compared to non-lucid dreamers, according to a study published in the journal Dreaming. Researchers speculate that if you’re insightful enough to realize that you’re dreaming while asleep, then that may translate into better insight for solving problems while you’re awake.

    20.Who you’re closest to

The people you have the strongest relationships with appear most frequently in your dreams, researchers have found. “Your dreams are a very accurate mirror of your emotional relationships,” says psychologist Kelly Bulkeley, PhD. “So when I’m analyzing your dreams, and you dream most often of your father, I can predict that you are closer emotionally to your father and that’s highly likely to be accurate.” This is what your dreams say about your personality type.

    21. How creative you are

Creative people are more likely to dream about unusual settings (rather than home or work) and about obstacles in the natural world, such as a log or a rock they can’t get around. These 13 bizarre facts about dreaming might keep you up at night.
