Ex-FDNY Firefighter and OnlyFans Model Michael Pena Jailed Over Fatal Drunk Driving Crash

Former FDNY firefighter-turned-OnlyFans model Michael Pena was thrown behind bars Thursday in a stunning courtroom twist, following a fatal drunk-driving crash that killed 23-year-old airport worker Justin Diaz earlier this year.

The dramatic moment unfolded in Queens Supreme Court, where over 50 members of Diaz’s family and supporters packed the gallery. When Pena’s bail was revoked, cheers erupted and someone even shouted, “Put the cuffs on him!”

Michael Pena, 28, who once moonlighted as a hunky OnlyFans model under the handle “I’m Mike LV”, is now facing a 14-count indictment, including manslaughter charges, stemming from the February 26 collision.

According to prosecutors, Pena was driving his silver Mercedes S63 Coupe at a shocking 83 mph in a 25 mph zone, when he sped through a red light and T-boned Diaz’s BMW at around 4 a.m. Surveillance footage and dashcam videos captured the horrifying impact.

Authorities revealed that Pena had been bar-hopping for hours before the crash and had alcohol, cocaine, and marijuana in his system. His blood-alcohol level remained well above the legal limit even five hours after the crash.
“I ran the light. I hit him. I’m a firefighter,” Pena allegedly admitted to police at the scene.

Dressed sharply in a charcoal suit, crisp white shirt, and gold tie, Pena appeared stunned as the judge ordered him into custody. Previously out on a $50,000 cash bail (or $100,000 bond), prosecutors argued successfully that Pena was now a flight risk, facing up to 15 years in prison if convicted.

His defense attorney, Marvin Kornberg, pleaded for leniency, arguing,
“He has ties to the community… There is absolutely no need to change the bail.”

But Judge Michael Hartofilis sided with the prosecution, citing the severity of the crime. The decision was met with emotional applause from Diaz’s family, who said Pena had shown “no regard for human life.”

“This was a heinous crime,” said Franklin Diaz Jr., the victim’s older brother. “He tried to use his firefighter status to lessen what he did to my brother.”

Michael Pena’s troubled history includes multiple prior arrests across Queens, Nassau County, and New Jersey, including for flashing a phony ID, as well as 25 traffic violations, primarily for speeding between 2023 and early 2025.

Pena’s OnlyFans account had built a notable following, where he frequently posted shirtless selfies, flexing his toned physique and teasing “private content” for an extra fee.
“Feelin real fresh got some new content for y’all; message me to unlock the goods,” he wrote on social media in mid-2023.

Tragically, Justin Diaz, the victim of the crash, had recently graduated from college with a degree in aeronautics and was on his way to work at LaGuardia Airport when his life was cut short.

For Diaz’s grieving family, Pena’s flashy OnlyFans fame and firefighter title were no shield against justice.

“He lost his job,” Franklin Diaz Jr. said. “Now he’s going to lose his freedom, too.”

  • Australian Prison Guard Alicia Davis Quits Job to Join OnlyFans: “My New Career Gives Me Freedom”

Australian Prison Guard Alicia Davis Quits Job to Join OnlyFans: “My New Career Gives Me Freedom”

Former prison guard Alicia Davis has traded in her handcuffs for a new kind of freedom — and a booming OnlyFans career.

The 32-year-old from Australia’s Gold Coast recently revealed she left behind her job as a correctional officer to pursue full-time work on the adult platform. Speaking with The New York Post, Davis explained that while she was making around $61,000 AUD annually as a prison guard, the emotional toll — and the constant attention from inmates — ultimately pushed her to seek a new life.

“I had to constantly reject them,” Davis said about the inmates. “They’d comment on my appearance, saying: ‘You look really good today,’ or noticing the finer details about my look.”
While Davis admitted she appreciated the compliments, she made it clear that maintaining professional boundaries was critical. “It was so important for me to tell them that these sorts of comments aren’t appropriate.”

Prison life was restrictive beyond the obvious. Inmates’ partners would often glare at her during visits, and policies forbade makeup, jewellery, and even any real personal style.
“Some of the wives used to come in and just stare me down,” Davis recalled. “I don’t know  what their husbands said to them about me, but I didn’t react to the comments or stares.”

Even after some inmates were released, Davis said a few attempted to track her down on Instagram, hoping to connect — advances she firmly rejected.

Beyond the uncomfortable attention, the job itself was emotionally draining.
“The prison job tied me down,” she shared. “I wasn’t allowed to be myself — no makeup, no nails, no personality in my wardrobe. It was exhausting.”

By February 2022, Davis decided she had enough. She quit her job and launched her career on OnlyFans, a decision that has since transformed her life. While she previously earned a stable income, Davis now reports making more than $371,000 AUD annually — a massive leap that has given her true autonomy over her career and image.

“My new career gives me the freedom to work in my own time and be myself with no restrictions,” Davis said. “I can wear what I want and flirt with whoever I want without the fear of being punished.”

Now, Davis controls her own schedule, her personal expression, and her financial future — a far cry from the rigid rules and emotional labour she left behind.

Her story is part of a growing trend of individuals leaving traditional careers for opportunities on platforms like OnlyFans, proving that for some, personal freedom — and financial success — can be just a click away.

Some movies are iconic and beloved for their compelling stories, unforgettable characters, and immersive worlds. However, not every film can make a successful transition to the stage. Cinema and theatre are very different, and while a plot may seem amazing on screen, it often doesn’t translate well when songs are added.

Here are 10 great movies that were made into bad musicals.

    10 Mean Girls

You’d be hard-pressed to find a movie that’s come in the last 20 years that’s been quoted more than “Mean Girls.” Tina Fey’s iconic high school comedy was adapted for the stage in 2017 and opened on Broadway a year later.

Fey herself worked on the book, though the decision to change the setting from 2004 to modern day did not sit well with some fans. Many claimed that the original movie was a product of the early 2000s teen culture, with jokes about bulimia and slurs no longer being seen as funny. Despite this, Mean Girls stayed on Broadway for two years, only shutting down due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

So why is it on this list? Mean Girls is unique because while the stage version of the show is fine (if underwhelming, according to critics), the 2024 movie version of the musical was a huge flop. It gained notoriety on TikTok for its odd directing choices, which included filming some songs from a cell phone and lead Angourie Rice’s subpar singing. It was a commercial flop, with reviewers noting it was a “hot mess.”[1]

    9 Fame

With both a TV show and a musical based on the original movie, Fame is one show that really lives up to its name.

“Fame” follows a group of students at a performing arts high school in New York City as they navigate adolescence. The theatrical nature of the original source material makes this an obvious choice to adapt into a stage musical.

One of the main problems critics had with this show was that it was pretty much just the movie… on a stage. While this is, of course, the point of adapting a movie to the stage, Fame made no effort to vary the plot or add character development, opting instead to reuse jokes and songs from the 1980 movie. Even the cult status of the original film and a 2020 pro-shoot recording couldn’t save this show.[2]

    8 Tootsie

Faced with the reality that he’s gained a reputation for being difficult, actor Michael Dorsey assumes a new identity and new gender. Thus lies the premise for the popular 1982 comedy “Tootsie.”

Such a ridiculous and theatrical plot seems tailor-made for a Broadway musical, but alas, it wasn’t meant to be. While the comedy and writing were praised, most critics agreed that the music was repetitive and dull anathema to the innate energy of the movie.

The nail in the coffin for Tootsie was a blowback from the transgender and non-binary communities, which pointed out that trans people were the butt of many jokes and the perpetuation of transmisogyny.[3]

    7 The Devil Wears Prada

Without Meryl and Anne, this story just isn’t the same.

Based on the 2006 movie, The Devil Wears Prada musical was a surprise flop considering the talent involved, which included Tony nominee Shaina Taub, screenwriter Paul Rudnick, and Sir Elton John. It’s Elton’s involvement that makes the negative reviews so shocking. Not only were the music and lyrics underwhelming, but the New York Post noted that the show was “alarmingly in-fun and sluggish.” Not quite what you’d expect from the Pinball Wizard, especially when paired with a cult classic movie.

Worst of all, the costumes didn’t quite steal the show—which is a problem for a musical about fashion.[4]

    6 Ghost

Patrick Swayze broke hearts in the 1990 movie Ghost, where he played a specter desperately trying to reconnect with his still-alive lover. With Demi Moore as the aforementioned girlfriend and the hilarious Whoopi Goldberg as a psychic who can help them, it’s no surprise Ghost still brings many to tears.

As a matter of fact, so did the 2011 musical adaption, but not for the same reasons. The musical version of Ghost premiered in the Manchester Opera House and transferred to Broadway less than a year later. Though the show did garner a few Tony Awards for some cool social effects, reviewers were not impressed with the “innocuous, forgettable pop songs” and noted that the show seemed almost to exist purely to show off the set and effects, leaving audiences wanting something a bit more human.[5]

5 Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Roald Dahl’s famous 1964 children’s novel has been adapted multiple times, most notably in 1971 with Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka and in 2005 with Johnny Depp in the lead role.

It’s a classic story of selflessness and the magic of sugar, and one that audiences have flocked to approximately every 25 years (if we consider the box office smash of 2024’s Wonka). It seems impossible to mess up. But when the musical adaption hit Broadway in 2017, critics weren’t happy.

Their unease mostly stemmed from the production’s decision to cast adults as all of the Golden Ticket winning children. This combined with a minimalist set which failed to capture the magic and whimsy of Wonka’s world caused Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to be sent down the chocolate river.[6]

    4 Big

    Big The Musical!!

    Big The Musical!!
    Watch this video on YouTube

Like most of the musicals on this list, Big should have been a hit, just like the 1988 Tom Hanks movie of the same name.

Hanks played a 12 year old boy who suddenly turns into an adult and learns that growing up isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Even with Hanks as the impervious lead, the film is often criticized for its main romantic relationship between Hanks and Elizabeth Perkins (who, of course, has no idea she’s actually dating a child). Hanks’ charm and the sharp writing saves the movie from being too weird—Something that the musical doesn’t have the advantage of.

As one reviewer noted, “Big just doesn’t grow up,” referring to the show’s childish writing and forgettable musical, which fails to elevate the coming-of-age material.[7]

    3 King Kong

Large animals and monsters have been done well on stage many times before—Take Audrey 2 from Little Shop of Horrors, the gigantic man-eating plant, or the Joey puppet from War Horse.

So when an Australian production company announced in 2013 that they’d be turning the iconic 1933 film King Kong into a musical, it was big news, but not unprecedented. Theatermakers around the world anxiously waited to see how the gigantic ape could be recreated on stage.

And it didn’t disappoint. Though reviewers tore into the “stupefyingly banal book,” “forgettable lyrics,” and “shrill, one-note performances” from the actors, King Kong the musical performed for months on Broadway thanks to the sheer spectacle of the titular character’s puppet, who required 15 people to operate and weighed 1.2 tons.[8]

    2 Rocky

ROCKY Broadway – A First Look

ROCKY Broadway - A First Look
    Watch this video on YouTube

Besides Damn Yankees, sports generally don’t make successful musicals, and the Broadway adaptation of Sylvester Stallone’s hit film Rocky helps prove this.

After eight years of workshops and rehearsals, Rocky the Musical opened on Broadway in 2014. Even hunky lead man Andy Karl as the titular boxer and some impressive set design couldn’t save the show, which featured bland and predictable songs according to critics. One of the most infamous of these is a ballad Rocky sings to his pet turtles, titled “My Nose Ain’t Broken,” which is about exactly what it sounds like.

Since closing on Broadway, Rocky the Musical has grown a cult following, particularly in Europe, where it was revived in Prague. Most of this is because of the theatricality of the musical’s design, which elevates the material. But, as the old theater adage goes, “nobody leaves a theater humming the scenery.”[9]

    1 Gigi

Gigi on Broadway | Act 1

Gigi on Broadway | Act 1
    Watch this video on YouTube

By all accounts, the 1958 movie Gigi shouldn’t work. Based on the 1944 novella by Colette, the film follows a teenage courtesan named Gigi as she explores turn-of-the-century Paris and grapples with the realities of her career. The lush costumes and detailed sets made for a Best Picture winning-movie, but not a Best Musical winning musical.

The sensitive nature of the material wasn’t very controversial in the 1950s, but by the time a new musical version landed on Broadway in 2015, audiences weren’t too keen to watch a young girl be bought by old men. Though Gigi was aged up and her love interest made a little less creepy, the overall story remained awkward.

Critics pointed out there wasn’t much substance behind the main character. “Her great triumph is up to her sexual servitude from temporary to permanent.” The show tried to live the best of both worlds by keeping the sexual plot but making the songs clean enough for family audiences, creating a weird and vague plot that captured no one.[10]

  • Ukrainian OnlyFans Model Maria Kovalchuk Found With Broken Spine in Dubai

Ukrainian OnlyFans Model Maria Kovalchuk Found With Broken Spine in Dubai

A 20-year-old Ukrainian OnlyFans model, Maria Kovalchuk, who was found with horrific injuries on the side of a road in Dubai after being missing for over a week, is now expected to survive, though questions about what really happened to her continue to swirl.

Maria had vanished on March 9, after telling friends she had been invited to a party at a hotel with two men claiming to be modelling agents. She was last heard from that day, and missed her scheduled flight to Thailand on March 11, prompting concern from family and friends, who reported her missing.

Then, on March 19, Maria was found battered, bloodied, and dumped at a roadside in Dubai, suffering from broken limbs, a shattered spine, and other life-threatening injuries. She was rushed to the hospital, where she underwent four separate surgeries in an effort to save her life.

Her mother Anna, who flew in from Norway to be by her daughter’s side, confirmed that Maria is now in stable condition and expected to recover.
“She is getting medical treatment and everything will be all right,” she told reporters.

Authorities in Dubai said that the adult content creator entered a restricted construction site alone and fell from a height, resulting in her injuries.
A police statement added that Maria was now “hospitalised, receiving medical care with her family present,” and that the investigation was ongoing.

But Maria’s family appears deeply sceptical of the official explanation. Russian outlet Shot reported that they believe the story of her falling at a construction site may be fabricated. When asked about these claims, her mother said, “I cannot comment because of the investigation.”

Maria’s disappearance has raised several red flags. Prior to vanishing, she told her mother she would be staying overnight with two men who claimed to work in the modelling industry — and who had invited her to a high-end party. That same night, she disappeared without a trace, with no phone, documents, or personal belongings found on her.

Maria’s friend, Angelina Doroshenkova, a Russian model who had also been invited to the same March 9 event, said she opted to return to Russia instead.
“We all hope for the best and are very grateful to everyone who took part in the search and helped with information,” she shared.

Russian news outlet VChK-OGPU reported that Maria had appeared to be in a state of “incomprehensible hysterics” shortly before she vanished, though what exactly occurred in the hours leading up to her injuries remains unclear.

Maria was ultimately located in a Dubai hospital, seriously wounded, and without any way to communicate. Her mother revealed she was unable to speak and in extremely fragile condition when first found.

As Maria begins her long road to recovery, her family — and the wider modelling and influencer community — are left searching for answers about what really happened to the young woman in the days between March 9 and 19.

  • 10 Great Comic Book Castings Wasted on Bad Scripts

Casting comic book characters onto the big (or small) screen is tricky. Unlike regular novels, these superpowered stories come with vivid illustrations of every plot beat. As such, fans have clear pictures of how the characters should look and act. Maybe that’s why they scrutinize these adaptations so closely. It’s painfully apparent when the wrong person lands a pivotal part, but it’s also rewarding when the role goes to the right star. As important as that aspect is, though, it’s not the only thing to consider.

Comic book adaptations could have phenomenal casting, but these perfect picks fall apart when the rest of the film can’t support them. Such cases arguably hurt more than a complete failure. As the stars step seamlessly into their characters’ shoes, they practically leap off the page with authenticity. They might even show a new side to an old favorite. An uninspired story then utterly wastes those efforts, forever tainting a promising legacy. Fans can’t help but wish these picks got the scripts they deserve. At least they make these turkeys more watchable.

    10 Kelsey Grammer as Beast

A Terrible Beast In A Great X-Men Movie

A Terrible Beast In A Great X-Men Movie
    Watch this video on YouTube

The original X-Men movies are full of knockout casting choices, and Kelsey Grammer is one of them. He debuts as Hank McCoy/Beast in X-Men: The Last Stand (2006). The burly blue hero is an imposing sight, but his scientific background gives him an incredibly articulate demeanor. Grammer’s vocal precision conveys the character’s classiness. At the same time, his physical presence makes him the imposing figure you’d expect. He fits right in with the likes of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and Famke Janssen as Jean Grey. Those guys have more to work with, though.

X-Men: The Last Stand is a mess. It tries to weave the Dark Phoenix plot into a mutant cure narrative, but this misguided mix pulls the film in opposing directions. Longstanding characters meet unceremonious ends as a result. Meanwhile, the survivors act so out of character that they cheapen their prior development. Rarely do so many moving parts yield so little.[1]

    9 Melissa Benoist as Supergirl

Supergirl Epic Fight and Flight Moments Compilation (Part 1)

Supergirl Epic Fight and Flight Moments Compilation (Part 1)
    Watch this video on YouTube

Supergirl differs depending on the writer. She can be a sullen outcast from a doomed world or become an upbeat bundle of energy with a passion for heroism. The Supergirl (2015) TV series mainly subscribes to the latter camp, finding the ideal actress in Melissa Benoist. Her infectious zeal lets her easily command the screen. More importantly, she has such a believable purity that you can’t help but root for her. What’s most impressive of all is her ability to stomach this material.

The show often forgoes superhero adventures in favor of politics and romance. Most episodes deal with repetitive relationship woes, which unfold with vomitous melodrama rivaling the most soapy CW series. Worse, they feed directly into reductive takes on current events. The writers delight in referencing topical headlines about immigration, feminism, racism, gun control, and the trans movement. Not only are these issues forced, but the show handles them in such a shallow, one-sided way that it borders on propaganda. How it runs for five seasons is a question more elusive than Supergirl’s origin.[2]

8 Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman

WONDER WOMAN 1984 Clip – “Highway Fight” (2020)

WONDER WOMAN 1984 Clip - "Highway Fight" (2020)
    Watch this video on YouTube

Playing an Amazon is no easy feat, but Gal Gadot makes it look easy. She dons the armor of Wonder Woman in the DC Extended Universe. Though not as big as expected, she nevertheless excels in action, embodying the heroine’s warrior side through an almost primal body language. Her deep voice obviously helps in that respect, but it also aids in her sultry charm, which suits the character’s playful charisma. Her casting is one of the few good decisions in this cinematic universe.

The DCEU mainly consists of misfires. Wonder Woman’s immortality means she appears in many of them, much to her detriment. She’s there for the pretentious disaster of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), both versions of the lackluster Justice League (2017/2021), the pitifully silly Wonder Woman 1984 (2020), the brainless Shazam: Fury of the Gods (2023), and the uninspired buffoonery of The Flash (2023). The only positive example is her first solo film, Wonder Woman (2017), but even that devolves into CG nonsense during the third act. Thus, Gadot has the thankless task of bridging these foolish fiascos.[3]

    7 Dina Meyer as Oracle

Birds of prey – MEETING DINAH

Birds of prey - MEETING DINAH
    Watch this video on YouTube

Plenty of heroes find strength through tragedy; Barbara Gordon is no exception. Originally fighting crime as Batgirl, a paralyzing shot through the spine confines her to a wheelchair. Thankfully, she uses her computer wizardry to continue the crusade, offering vital intel to superheroes as Oracle. The only actress who does justice to that journey (in live action, at least) is Dina Meyer. Her nuances work in tandem with her age to depict a seasoned heroine, yet she maintains the youthful spark that drives her to fight crime. The catch is that her portrayal is the lone bright spot.

Meyer is stuck in Birds of Prey (2002), a series about the female crime-fighting team. While compelling in concept, the show is a shallow product of its time. It subscribes to the school of navel-gazing teen angst prevalent during this period. The writers rely on this pseudo-edginess in lieu of genuine drama, so the characters, plots, and themes are paper-thin. On top of making the series a chore to watch, this masquerade means that Meyer can’t show the world why she’s right for this role.[4]

6 Ioan Gruffudd, Michael Chiklis, and Chris Evans as the Fantastic Four

FANTASTIC FOUR Clip – “Brooklyn Bridge” (2005)

FANTASTIC FOUR Clip - "Brooklyn Bridge" (2005)
    Watch this video on YouTube

The Fantastic Four presents a huge casting challenge. Not only must each actor be right for his/her role, but they must all have familial chemistry. After all, this superhero team is a family, first and foremost.

You truly feel that bond in Fantastic Four (2005) and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007). Ioan Gruffudd exudes professorial intelligence as Reed Richards, and Michael Chiklis has both the blue-collar persona and the bulky physicality of Ben Grimm. Similarly, Chris Evans fits Johnny Storm’s frat-boy immaturity better than he ever did as Captain America. The outlier is Jessica Alba, who’s too young to be Sue Storm. Regardless, she and her costars still gel into a convincing family unit, albeit one made of misfits. That’s where the problems start as well.

These movies are astoundingly stupid. The script routinely plays up the characters’ powers for cheap jokes. The screwball antics are straight out of a 2000s comedy, often overshadowing the actual story. Because of that, the rare dramatic moments don’t feel earned but rather obligatory. The kicker is that these blunders are still better than the other Fantastic Four flicks.[5]

5 Thomas Haden Church as Sandman

    Spider-Man vs. Sandman’s First Battle | Spider-Man 3

    Spider-Man vs. Sandman's First Battle | Spider-Man 3
    Watch this video on YouTube

Flint Marko has a checkered history, both in-universe and in a meta sense. He starts as a shallow supervillain named Sandman, but subsequent glimpses into his unhappy upbringing set him on a path to redemption, turning him into an antihero. Thomas Haden Church imbues that journey with due empathy. Sure, he has a hardened criminal’s muscular build and chiseled features, but his eyes betray such crushing sadness that it’s hard not to pity him. It’s safe to say he does most of the heavy lifting.

Church debuts in Spider-Man 3 (2007). This threequel clearly has too many cooks in the kitchen. The most obvious clue is the surplus of villains, all fighting for screen time in a scattershot plot. The consequential contrivances mean the character drama isn’t as organic as previous outings, evidenced by retroactively tying Marko to the death of Spider-Man’s uncle. Given the shoddy foundation, Flint’s pathos is more unsteady than a sandcastle.[6]

    4 Mark Strong as Sinestro

Hal Jordan vs Sinestro | Green Lantern [Extended Cut]

Hal Jordan vs Sinestro | Green Lantern [Extended Cut]
    Watch this video on YouTube

Green Lantern’s most iconic enemy ironically starts on the same team. Originally one of the emerald heroes, Sinestro’s brutality leads him down the villainous path of the Yellow Lanterns. Mark Strong is no stranger to such villainy, having portrayed numerous antagonists in his career. He easily brings that same darkness to Sinestro, but what’s striking is how he reigns it in. His natural intensity works equally well at conveying the driven discipline of a seasoned space cop. It’s just a shame he never goes on his pivotal journey.

Green Lantern (2011) is notorious for wasted potential. It repeats the mistake of several superhero blockbusters by trying to do too much within its limited time. On top of telling Hal Jordan’s Green Lantern origin, it throws in Parallax, Hector Hammond, and even Amanda Waller. This underdeveloped jumble leaves Sinestro with virtually nothing to do. Granted, he randomly finds a Yellow Lantern ring in a post-credits scene, but this shallow tease is only a reminder of what could have been.[7]

3 Anson Mount & Serinda Swan as Black Bolt & Medusa

Marvel’s Inhumans King Black Bolt And Queen Medusa Best Moments Part#1

Marvel's Inhumans King Black Bolt And Queen Medusa Best Moments Part#1
    Watch this video on YouTube

The Inhumans are among the weirder inclusions in the Marvel pantheon. A royal family of genetically enhanced super beings, these guys live in a secret society on the Moon. Finding the right people to play them is a tall order, but Anson Mount as Black Bolt and Serinda Swan as Medusa are a good start. His expressive eyes and commanding charisma instill a surprisingly vivid personality into the silent ruler, and she carries an alluring mystique and regal authority as the long-haired queen. They even convey a convincing chemistry with minimal dialogue. Not speaking is a blessing in disguise here.

Inhumans (2017) is a contender for Marvel’s worst show. The writers don’t know how to humanize their godlike protagonists, so their predictable solution is to deprive the royals of their powers and positions. Though conveniently lessening the special effects, this cliched tactic still fails to endear the heroes to audiences. Everyone here is an obnoxious elitist. The best chemistry in the world can’t fix that problem.[8]

2 Eric Bana as The Hulk

Despite becoming a joke character in the mainstream, the Hulk is a grim figure in the Marvel Universe. Bruce Banner’s abusive childhood breeds deep-seated emotional issues. Although he tries to hide that trauma with scientific brilliance, it boils to the surface upon gaining a monstrous gamma transformation. Eric Bana is the most accurate portrayal in that respect. He obviously plays the introverted scientist with a wounded quality. Even in his quietest moments, however, he doesn’t seem entirely stable. You get the sense that he could snap at any moment, which is exactly the unease that Banner should inspire. Unfortunately, the movie doesn’t know what to do with him.

Hulk (2003) is an intriguing experiment, but it doesn’t pay off. It wants to be a thoughtful piece about how a man’s tragic upbringing comes back to haunt him. Then again, it frequently dilutes that goal with oddball choices like comic book panels and cartoonish bad guys. The final product feels painfully uneven because of these elements. Consequently, any dramatic conclusions it reaches are only surface level. That result is particularly disappointing for the most daring Hulk flick.[9]

    1 Val Kilmer as Batman

BATMAN FOREVER Final Scene (1995) Val Kilmer
    Watch this video on YouTube

Numerous actors have taken a stab at Batman, the tones varying from lighthearted to dour. One of the more underappreciated attempts comes from Val Kilmer. He plays it straight, his steely seriousness and whispered voice matching the hero’s ironclad resolve. In addition, Kilmer has a naturally unnerving hint of darkness about him. While this quality normally helps him play villains and killers, it also fits the tortured hero like a glove. Sadly, the movie doesn’t go that route.

Kilmer dons the cape and cowl for Batman Forever (1995). This flick echoes the flamboyant comics of yesteryear, but it also feels obligated to acknowledge the Dark Knight’s tragic roots. The subsequent adventure is a flashy, neon nightmare where two tones fight for dominance, ultimately satisfying neither side. Kilmer suffers because of it. As hard as he tries, the poor guy must continually undermine his own efforts through corny lines, cheesy smirks, and flat exchanges with his caricature costars. It’s no wonder he was “difficult” on set.[10]

Ms Puiyi Deletes All OnlyFans Content Following Previous Exit and Return

Malaysian model, DJ, and actress Ms Puiyi — real name Siew Pui Yi — has officially wiped her entire OnlyFans library, putting an end to all traces of her past adult content on the platform.

In a video shared to her Instagram on April 24, the social media star announced that she had removed every piece of content previously available on her OnlyFans page — including voice notes, texts, livestreams, photos, and videos.
“There will be no more chances for anyone to track back the past content,” Siew said, as she showed a screen recording of her now-blank page.

The move comes more than a year after Siew first announced her departure from the adult content scene in December 2022, just one year into her career as a DJ. After stepping away from OnlyFans, she shifted her focus toward film and music, even appearing in the trailer for the Malaysian horror movie Pulau.

During her hiatus from the platform, Siew performed as a DJ across Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and Australia, building a new chapter in her public persona. But in September 2023, she made a quiet return to OnlyFans — this time with SFW (safe-for-work) content that was a far cry from her earlier, more explicit material.

Though some fans had eagerly anticipated her comeback, her focus had clearly shifted. In a post on her OnlyFans broadcast channel, Siew addressed the change in direction:
“There are a lot of fans asking me if there are any platforms where I can talk to my fans instead of just through posts or something. There’s one,” she explained.
“It’s SFW and it’s free. I will be able to talk to you guys daily there.”

Her decision to completely erase her previous content appears to be part of a larger rebranding, one that aligns with her growing career across multiple industries.

With over 26.3 million Instagram followers, Siew Pui Yi is one of Malaysia’s most followed public figures. Her bio highlights her achievements as an actress, MBA student, internationally touring DJ, and model featured in Penthouse and JFK magazines.

While some fans expressed nostalgia for her previous work, many others applauded the move as a powerful step toward evolution and personal growth.

Whatever comes next, Ms Puiyi seems fully committed to taking control of her narrative — and doing it on her own terms.

So much goes into making a television show or a movie. Screenwriters produce polished scripts, and then directors and producers polish them even more. And that’s before the actors get on set and have a chance to look at the lines they’ll deliver. Now, in most cases, the vast majority of actors just read off the scripted lines as intended. They may put a little bit of their personal flair into it as performers, but they don’t have enough clout or social influence in Hollywood to totally rewrite scripts that they don’t like.

Superstars don’t live like the rest of Hollywood’s working actors, though. And those same rules about just saying the lines as the screenwriters and directors expect don’t apply to the world’s most powerful A-listers! In this list, we’ll tell the tales of ten high-profile actors cast in various movies and shows who hated the scripts they received upon casting and rewrote things to better suit themselves. Perhaps you might see this as diva behavior—or maybe you’ll think some of these stars were merely smart to improve lackluster scripts. But regardless, they pushed for total rewrites… and got what they wanted!

    10 Daniel Day-Lewis

Famed director Paul Thomas Anderson was the one who first put together the script for Phantom Thread, but wisely, he left it unfinished. PTA felt that instead of writing the full script, it would be better to only complete part of it. Then, when he cast the actor he wanted to play the lead role, he would let that man polish up the script to his heart’s content. And it was a very wise move because the lead role went to none other than the best actor of his era—Daniel Day-Lewis.

When DDL officially got the part, he started looking more deeply into the script. And what he saw was an unfinished gem that was up to him to polish and perfect. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly about that dynamic after the fact, Anderson explained: “I’d give [Day-Lewis] things as I was writing. Rather than go away and write a script and try to impress him, I was collaborating with him each step of the way as I was going, which was very helpful in terms of forming the story and the character.” Imagine that—an influential director and a powerhouse actor working in tandem on a script. Sadly, the rest of this list’s rewrite battles weren’t nearly as polite and cordial.[1]

    9 Edward Norton

It was a curious move when Edward Norton was cast to star in The Incredible Hulk. But the actor had an ace up his sleeve: He had only agreed to the role in the superhero flick if he was allowed to rewrite screenwriter Zak Penn’s entire screenplay. And indeed, Norton made a ton of changes to the script. He rewrote countless scenes to better suit his needs and what he felt was right for his character. But in the end, a major problem cropped up: The majority of Norton’s rewrites never made the final cut of the movie! Greatly dismayed by that, the Rounders actor eventually had a major falling-out with the screenwriter. And to this day, Norton and Penn will likely never collaborate again.

“I don’t really know the guy,” Penn told Entertainment Weekly about Norton when asked about the major frustrations he felt throughout filming. “He has his own process, and he chose to do it the way he wanted to do it. That said, I kept in touch with the people making the movie—but he, you know, has his own particular way of working and… it was unusual. I really don’t know. I wasn’t there; I was off making another movie, so it wasn’t a situation where I was banging on the door saying, ‘Let me come to the set.’” Penn went on to explain that he wasn’t happy when Norton went to Comic Con and claimed he had written the script.” Ouch![2]

Alan Rickman really didn’t care for the original script for Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves after he was cast in the movie. So, like any actor who wanted to create a good product that he could be proud of, he rewrote the whole thing! Rickman got together with some of his trusted pals—writers and producers Ruby Wax and Peter Barnes—and the three gave the script a complete overhaul. In the end, the trio came up with something they felt would be a better vehicle for Rickman’s career and a better-finished product for fans and moviegoers. But that’s not to say there weren’t hiccups along the way.

Perhaps most infamously, Rickman was once forced to meet with Barnes in a Pizza Express fast food joint to work on a portion of the rewrite when neither one had any other place to get their work done. Recalling that fateful (and greasy!) moment, Rickman later told The Times about the experience: “I said, ‘Will you have a look at this script? It’s terrible, and I need some good lines.’ So he did, and, you know, with pizza and bacon and egg going all over the script.” Sounds awkward, memorable, messy, and delicious![3]

Without a doubt, Cruel Intentions is one of Reese Witherspoon’s most iconic and lasting acting moments. And while it may have defined much of the early part of her career, that doesn’t mean it was smooth sailing from the start. On the contrary, if she hadn’t spoken up once she got the script to read for her character, Annette Hargrove, things could have turned out very differently for Witherspoon in Hollywood.

See, once she was cast in the movie, and after she read the script, the then-young Reese worried that her character was too demure in her scripted life and too influenced by the manipulations and tribulations of the men around her. Not wanting Annette to be a total pushover, Reese gathered the courage to mention her concerns to Roger Kumble, who both wrote and directed the movie. And to Kumble’s credit, he listened!

“Annette was the character most removed from me,” Roger later admitted to Entertainment Weekly when asked about Reese helping with a total character overhaul for Annette. “There’s no way the movie would have its success if it weren’t for [Reese’ ’s] talent as a writer.” Good for Reese for speaking up when she did—and good for Roger to put his ego aside and compile the best possible script no matter the consequences![4]

When Russell Crowe was first cast to star in Gladiator, the script that was to serve as the foundation of the film was nearly non-existent. Producers knew they wanted Crowe to star in the flick, but they didn’t know much else. The script itself was only 21 pages long—less than a fifth of a typical movie script. And with barely any dialogue and nearly no idea about fleshing out any kind of character development, things seemed like an uphill battle. Frustrated with the lack of development before his casting, Crowe took action. He jumped headfirst alongside director Ridley Scott to finish the script and get the movie off the ground.

“It had 21 pages when we started shooting, and your average script is about 110,” Crowe later told BBC Radio 1 about his rewrite work. “Well, it’s me and Ridley working together, but also, you know, it’s the dumbest possible way to make a film… We didn’t know what we were going to shoot, so we had to go back to my house – me, him, and David Franzoni, one of the producers who was also the original writer—and try and work it out.” That they came up with such a solid movie in the end really speaks to their (re)writing abilities![5]

    5 Paul Rudd

The movie Ant-Man had a full script and a completely fleshed-out idea of what it was meant to be long before producers cast Paul Rudd to star in it. But then a major monkey wrench was thrown into the fold when the movie’s originally planned director and co-screenwriter Edgar Wright abruptly left the project. Suddenly unmoored from Wright’s initial vision, producers scrambled to get things done. But thankfully, Rudd himself stepped in. Alongside screenwriter Adam McKay, the affable actor took it upon himself to rewrite the script and save the movie.

“I’ve always known Paul Rudd’s a really good writer from improvising with him on set, but I had no idea he was that good,” McKay later told Collider when asked about how Rudd resurrected the movie after Wright’s departure. “He’s really great with dialogue. So, the two of us holed up in hotel rooms on the East and West Coasts, and I think it was, like, six to eight weeks, we just ground it out and did a giant rewrite of the script. I was really proud of what we did. I really thought we put some amazing stuff in there and built on an already strong script from Edgar Wright and enhanced some stuff.”[6]

It was considered a coup when both Jeff Bridges and Robert Downey Jr. were cast for Iron Man under the direction of Jon Favreau. But during initial rehearsals for the high-budget flick, it quickly became very clear to all involved that the script was not up to snuff. Rather than move forward with a subpar script and risk putting out a lackluster movie, Bridges and Downey stepped up to halt things before it got too bad on set. Over several weeks, the actors convinced Favreau and the producers to stop pre-production and give them time to do a full script rewrite. Things got so complicated, though, and there was so much rewriting to do that the actors were actually still working out bits and pieces as principal filming began!

Bridges recalled that complicated process later in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter. “We read the script, and it wasn’t really right,” he said. “We had two weeks’ rehearsal, and we basically rewrote the script. And the day before we were going to shoot, we get a call from the Marvel guy saying, ‘Oh no, no, no. None of this is right.’ So we would muster in my trailer and rehearse while the guys were in the studio tapping their feet, saying, ‘When are they going to come?’ We were still trying to figure out the [scenes] we were going to shoot.” That seems like a very complicated and stressful way to shoot a movie![7]

Jenna Ortega was a very young woman when she was cast to star in Tim Burton’s Netflix series Wednesday. (Heck, she’s still a young woman now—she’s only 22 years old!) But her immaturity may have hurt her a bit once she took on the lead character of that streaming series. On set, Ortega quickly became very possessive of her character and the script. She later admitted that things became so bad that she was “almost unprofessional” when it came to rewriting lines and altering the script. And while it frustrated the series’ producers and screenwriters to no end, Jenna did it with the express motivation to put out the best show possible for her very demanding fans.

“Everything that I had to play did not make sense for her character at all,” Ortega later argued during an interview for the “Armchair Expert” podcast. “Her being in a love triangle? It made no sense. There was a line about a dress she has to wear for a school dance, and she says, ‘Oh my god, I love it. Ugh, I can’t believe I said that. I literally hate myself.’ I had to go, ‘No.’ There were times on that set where I even became almost unprofessional in a sense where I just started changing lines.” Taken one way, Ortega exhibited some serious diva behavior. But seen in a different light, well, perhaps she saved the show from being panned.[8]

When it came time for Tom Cruise to film The Mummy, he reportedly exerted quite a bit of creative control. Even for an A-list star like Cruise, this was on another level—if insiders close to the production are to be believed, at least. As the story went at the time, Cruise wanted to rewrite nearly the entire script after he was first cast in the flick. Instead of trusting the screenwriters to improve it, though, he struck out on his own. He supposedly hired two outside writers (on his own dime!) to rework the script and get it up to his liking.

Among other things, the rewrites ensured that Tom’s character had more screen time—and a much improved dramatic arc that would keep him as the movie’s main focus. “This is very much a film of two halves,” supervising art director Frank Walsh told Variety about how Cruise affected The Mummy and its production. “[It was] before Tom and after Tom.”

But even after that eyebrow-raising quote, Walsh refused to throw Cruise under the bus. The art director continued: “I have heard the stories about how he drives everything and pushes and pushes, but it was amazing to work with him. The guy is a great filmmaker and knows his craft. He will walk onto a set and tell the director what to do, say, ‘That’s not the right lens,’ ask about the sets, and as long as you don’t fluff what you’re saying to him… he’s easy to work for.” Sure he is, Frank. Sure he is.[9]

Blake Lively may have both produced and starred in It Ends with Us when it came out earlier in 2024, but did you know she also had a hand in the screenplay? Of course, the movie is based on the famous Colleen Hoover novel of the same title. However, adapting the book into a screenplay took far more work for Blake (and also for her husband, Ryan Reynolds) than you might have expected. In fact, it was Reynolds who stepped up big to give the script the perfect finishing touches. It all ended climatically with a memorable rooftop scene—one written by Blake and Ryan and not the original screenwriter Christy Hall.

“The iconic rooftop scene, my husband actually wrote it,” Lively revealed to E! News after the movie came out. “Nobody knows that but you now. We help each other. He works on everything I do; I work on everything he does. So his wins, his celebrations are mine, and mine are his.”

As for the screenwriter Hall, she amazingly didn’t take offense to the rewrites. While trying her best to honor Hoover’s original novel and work it into a usable screenplay, she was also okay with Lively (and Reynolds) making as many changes as they did. “There were a few little flourishes that I did not write, but I assumed that they had been improvised on set,” Hall explained to People Magazine. “But the moments that I felt like needed to be honored are there. So I recognize the scene and I’m proud of the scene. And if those flourishes came from Ryan, I think that’s wonderful.” What a carefully crafted, politically correct way of putting it.[1]

Selena Gomez Reportedly Unfollows OnlyFans Model Theresa Marie Over Boyfriend Benny Blanco’s Subscription

Is there trouble brewing in Selena Gomez’s inner circle?

According to viral reports making the rounds on social media, Selena Gomez has allegedly unfollowed her longtime friend and OnlyFans content creator, Theresa Marie, after discovering that her boyfriend, Benny Blanco, had been paying for Theresa’s adult content.

While the unfollow hasn’t been publicly confirmed by Gomez herself, internet sleuths were quick to notice the missing connection between the two on Instagram — a platform where Selena famously keeps her circle tight.

The alleged falling out didn’t happen in a vacuum either. Just days before the reported unfollow, Theresa Marie shared Instagram Stories where she was seen hanging out solo at Benny Blanco’s house and later having dinner alone with him. The posts were enough to spark serious speculation among fans — and reportedly enough to raise eyebrows for Selena, too.

The whispers began when screenshots and fan commentary suggested that Selena might have drawn a line not over her boyfriend’s actions, but over Theresa’s perceived betrayal — reigniting the age-old debate: Do you cut off the friend or the partner when both cross a boundary?

While neither Selena nor Benny has publicly addressed the OnlyFans allegations or the unfollowing, fans on platforms like ONTD and Twitter have been weighing in with fiery opinions.
“Would you unfollow or break up with your friend—but not your boyfriend-if they ever double-crossed you?” one thread asked.

As of now, Selena and Benny Blanco are still following each other on social media and appear to be going strong. Meanwhile, Theresa’s account remains active, and her followers have only grown amid the buzz.

This isn’t the first time Gomez’s friendships have made headlines. The star has famously had public fallouts and reconciliations with people in her circle, and she’s often been vocal about the importance of loyalty and emotional well-being in both friendships and relationships.

While nothing has been officially confirmed, the alleged drama underscores just how complicated things can get when fame, friendships, and OnlyFans collide.

Whether or not Selena addresses the situation, it’s clear fans are watching closely — and Instagram unfollows still speak louder than words.

As Pliny the Elder relates in the 35th book of his Natural History, in the fourth year of the 95th Olympiad (397–396 BC), the artist Zeuxis of Heraclea entered a contest against his fellow artist Parrhasius of Ephesus. The former’s painting, depicting grapes, was so realistic that birds were attracted to it.

Convinced that his painting had obviously won, he asked Parrhasius to open the curtain that was screening his work so that it could be viewed. However, the curtain could not be moved; it was Parrhasius’s own work of art. So astonished was Zeuxis that he passed his prize to his rival since his grapes had merely fooled birds, while Parrhasius’s curtain had fooled an artist––Zeuxis himself.[1]

As the AFI Fine Art website indicates, the 1401 competition between Lorenzo Ghiberti and Filippo Brunelleschi offered a huge reward: “the incredibly lucrative” commission “to maintain and embellish” the doors for the French Baptistry.

The competitors were required to present panels illustrating Abraham’s offering of his son Issac. In doing so, though, they faced severe “limitations”: the amount of bronze they’d be provided, the number of figures they could include, and the dimensions and configuration their work could take. It had to fit inside the pointed shape of the Gothic quatrefoil. Ghiberti, the younger artist, won, receiving 4,000 florins, or about $560,000 today, for the panels he created over 20 years.[2]

Edgar Allan Poe’s mother died when he was three years old, and his father had already abandoned them. Although wealthy merchant John Allan and his wife Frances reared him, the couple never adopted him, and Poe and his foster father were never close. Their relationship became increasingly strained after Frances’s death when Poe was twenty. Allan, who wanted to direct Poe’s life, disapproved of his foster son’s career choice and later disowned him.

After getting expelled from the U. S. Military Academy, Poe entered an 1833 newspaper contest, and his short story, “MS Found in a Bottle,” won, helping to launch his career as a writer and editor. Although he “remained impoverished and all but destitute,” he became a respected writer in his own day, and posthumously, he attained fame and esteem as one of America’s great short stories and poetry writers.[3]

On October 16, 1834, architects Charles Barry and Augustus Pugin, among thousands of others, watched as the Palace of Westminster burned. Soon after, a contest commenced, inviting contestants to submit designs for the palace’s reconstruction. Barry’s submission, a masterful “blend of old and new” enhanced by Pugin’s drawings of “Gothic details,” won, as DK’s The Architecture Book observes.

The Palace of Westminster Factsheet points out some of these old and new features: the “surviving” Westminster Hall, the Cloisters of St. Stephen’s College, and the Chapel of St. Mary Undercroft are old; such additions as “the Palace’s ornate Gothic interiors, including carvings, gilt work, [and] paneling,” are new.[4]

The creation of the first landscaped public park in the United States stemmed from what was, in 1853, initially a 700-acre tract of land before it was expanded to 843 acres ten years later. And it was a huge undertaking. The country’s first landscape design contest took place in 1857, during which Frederick Law Olmstead’s “Greensward Plan” was chosen as the winner.

The joint submission of the park’s superintendent and his former partner, Calvert Vaux, the plan was to shape the land into “a pastoral landscape” of “rolling hills” resembling the countryside familiar to Vaux, who had been born in England. Undulations of green lawn would contrast with the wooded Ramble and “more formal dress grounds of the Mall (Promenade) and Bethesda Terrace.”

The landscapers’ vision didn’t always agree with that of locals, though. Concessions were made so that, ultimately, the landscaping of the park became something of a joint project between Olmstead and Vaux and the public. It would continue to change and develop up to the present and, most likely, beyond.[5]

In 1893, during a trip to Colorado, Massachusetts-born Katherine Lee Bates penned the lines of a poem published in 1895 that would become the lyrics of the popular patriotic song “America the Beautiful.” Although a talented poet, Bates was not a musician, so, as the U.S. Library of Congress website points out, people sang its words “to almost any popular air or folk tune with which the lyrics fit,” “Auld Lang Syne” being one of the most common.

It wasn’t until 1929, the year of the poet’s death, that her beloved poem was set to music, the hymn “Materna” that Samuel Ward had written for a contest by the National Federation of Music Clubs. As the Song Facts website observes, the work of art, as it came to exist through the joint efforts of Bates and Ward, continued to be “the most popular ‘American’ song until Kate Smith recorded Irving Berlin’s ‘God Bless America’ in 1938.”[6]

If not for Marion Mahony Griffin’s artwork, Frank Lloyd Wright might not have become a celebrated architect. Both an architect herself and an artist influenced by “the Japanese style,” the MIT graduate captured Wright’s visions in an attractive way that drew attention to his work, showing how the houses and other buildings he planned would look upon completion.

Wright hired her despite the rampant discrimination against women at the time, and they worked together from 1895 until 1909 when Wright left for Europe to undertake a publishing project involving his work.

In 1911, Marion married her former colleague, Walter Burley Griffin. They won a contest for the design of Canberra, Australia’s new capital city, and they moved to Australia in 1914. As writer-columnist Glenda Korporaal notes, although “their basic plans for the layout of the city were eventually realized, many of their more specific design ideas were changed as the city was built.”

The couple also designed other projects, including the suburb Castlecraig in Australia. Despite her talent and successes, Marion died in poverty in 1961, following the death of her husband in 1937.[7]

Mindful that the original Olympics had included an art competition as well as sports competitions, Baron Pierre de Coubertin advocated for the return of the discarded contest. Despite resistance to his proposal, in 1912, at the Fifth Olympiad, medals were awarded in five categories of sports-related art: architecture, literature, music, painting, and sculpture. Only 35 contestants competed. The baron, who may have been the sole judge at the time, awarded the prize for literature to himself for his pseudonymous “Ode to Sport,” which he wrote in case there was a dearth of entrants in the arts competitions.

A panel of judges, instituted thereafter, either didn’t want art included with athletic events or were more discerning than the baron and awarded few medals despite many entries. These included paintings reflecting obvious artistic ability, among which was a winner, The Liffey Swim (1923) by John B. Yates, poet William Butler Yeats’s brother. It was awarded a silver medal and is now displayed in the National Gallery of Ireland in Dublin.[8]

Australians didn’t know quite what to make of it. Was it, writers of letters to the Sydney Morning Herald wondered, a “Danish pastry”? An “armadillo”? A “circus tent” to be used for “disinfection”? “The Loch Ness monster”? “An insect [that] crawled out from under a log?” Premier of New South Wales Joe Cahill had the answer: The winning entry to the Sydney Opera House design contest was “a concept capable of becoming one of the great buildings of the world.”

Submitted not by an Australian but by 38-year-old Danish architect Jørn Utzon, it had been chosen from among the 1957 contest’s 200 entries. Not only did Utzon win the £5,000 prize, but he was also installed as the building project’s chief architect. Work got underway in 1959. Due to events beyond his control, including “technical challenges and building delays,” the construction of the opera house took fourteen years. It cost $102 million, way more than the initial $7 million initially budgeted. Utzon, forced to resign, was replaced by a panel of architects. Today, the Sydney Opera House is regarded, both by Australians and the rest of the world, as a superb work of architectural art.[9]

.A poster that 21-year-old Yale University architecture student Maya Lin submitted as a “last-minute” class project assignment won her the 1981 national competition for the Vietnam War Memorial in Washington, DC. According to author Dr. Jackie Craven, Lin, trained as an artist and an architect, is best known for her large, minimalist sculptures and monuments. Although her entry won over the judges, it wasn’t initially a hit with many members of the public, but her “stark, black monument” launched Lin’s career. She herself saw her sketch of the memorial as “very painterly.”

Although some initially had doubts about Lin’s unusual memorial, many have come to appreciate her vision, and even her critics are likely to agree that the architect’s ebony wall of names is, indeed, a stark reminder of the cost of war.[10]

John Whaite Claims Waitrose Erased His Recipes After Rejoining OnlyFans

Strictly Come Dancing finalist and Great British Bake Off winner John Whaite says Waitrose has effectively scrubbed him from their website — and he believes it may be tied to his recent return to OnlyFans.

In a candid Instagram video posted on April 24, the 35-year-old baker revealed that the supermarket giant removed all of his recipes from its platform shortly after he rejoined the adult content subscription site.

“It seems Waitrose have diverted all my recipe links to similar recipes by other people – my work history with them ostensibly expunged,” Whaite said, visibly disappointed.
“My catalogue of YouTube videos with them has also disappeared. It’s like I never existed. No one at Waitrose informed me or told me why… I can only guess that it’s because I do OnlyFans.”

Whaite, who first rose to fame after winning The Great British Bake Off in 2012, had previously contributed his own page of curated recipes to Waitrose’s website. That page now redirects to a generic “Guest Recipes” section featuring other chefs — with no trace of Whaite’s work.

“Look, I get my OF work doesn’t align with their brand, and I would have accepted that had they treated me with an ounce of human respect,” he added.
“But to wipe out an entire collection of very hard work without any notice or chance to save the recipes first is an insult.”

In a brief response, a Waitrose spokesperson told The Sun:
“We regularly review recipes on our site and we are constantly updating and refreshing. We are very grateful for the work John has done for us.”

This isn’t the first brand backlash Whaite has faced since rejoining OnlyFans. Just last month, he revealed that Peugeot asked him to stop posting about the brand and return his car after discovering his adult content.
“Pettiness is in for 2025,” Whaite quipped online. “So much for being an inclusive brand.”

Peugeot issued a similar statement, saying they chose not to renew their partnership with Whaite when their agreement ended in March 2024.

Whaite’s shift into OnlyFans comes alongside his growing brownie and cookie business, Ruff Puff Brownies, which he runs with husband Paul Atkins. The couple’s handmade treats often sell out due to strong demand from their loyal base of 38,000+ social media followers.

Following the cancellation of his appearances on Steph’s Packed Lunch in 2023, Whaite leaned into entrepreneurship, both in the baking world and on his now-explicit content platform.

“One sells brownies and cookies,” he said in a recent interview. “While the other is a meatier enterprise. If you want to buy my sweet treats, head to Ruff Puff Brownies — and if you want to buy my meat, head to my OnlyFans page.”

John Whaite made history in 2021 as one half of Strictly Come Dancing’s first same-sex male couple alongside Johannes Radebe, with the pair reaching the final.
